Go Electric With Your Next Vehicle and Save Through the Monterey Bay Electrical Vehicle Incentives Program
California has set an ambitious goal for Electric Vehicle (EV) ownership. By 2030, the state is shooting for 5 million Zero Emission Vehicles on our roadways. To help with this important objective, Monterey Bay Community Power (MBCP) and the Monterey Bay Air Resources District (MBARD) are teaming up to provide major incentives for electric vehicle purchases and leases this year through their Monterey Bay Electric Vehicle Incentive Program (MBeVIP). This clean air and clean energy collaboration will provide more than 1 million dollars to the tri-county community, helping EV shoppers save big bucks. How big? Income-qualified customers can save more than 50% off MSRP.
The program is simple. Designed in two phases for maximum effect, the Monterey Bay Electric Vehicle Incentive Program allows everyone access to savings. Beginning May 1, 2019, and continuing through July 31, 2019, Phase 1 of the MBeVIP encourages you to Buy Local, offering MBCP customers monetary incentives between $1,000 and $4,500, plus significant discounts off the retail price on select EV models purchased or leased from participating local dealers. In addition to the discount provided by the program, MBeVIP steers participants toward further savings up to $4,500 through the California Clean Vehicle Rebate Project, the $800 Clean Fuel Rebate from PG&E, and the possibility of a federal rebate in the form of a $7,500 tax deduction for purchased EVs. Non-profits, educational institutions and public agencies receive even greater incentives.
This clean air and clean energy collaboration will provide more than 1 million dollars to the tri-county community, helping EV shoppers save big bucks.
Phase 2 of the MBeVIP is called Your Choice, Your Terms. It begins August 1, 2019, and lasts until funds run out. This second phase offers any tri-county business or resident the opportunity to apply for an MBARD-funded rebate for any used or new alternative fuel vehicle of their choice purchased at any dealer throughout California.
There’s never been a better time to drive an electric vehicle. Not only do EVs help the planet by slashing carbon emissions, the fuel and maintenance savings mean more money in your pocket. Combine your good planet karma and your smart investment with the fact that new EVs are just plain fun to drive, and the Monterey Bay Electric Vehicle Incentives Program should be on every tri-county business’ or resident’s list.
